Ginger lime sparkler
Yield one serving
Prep time
Total time
Ingredients
1 cup chilled sparkling water (pure filtered water, no tonic water)
1 teaspoon fresh ginger juice
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
A citrus slice for garnish
Can add more or less juice for desired balance. Or add additional flavors like lemon juice, or fresh mint.
Directions
Peel ginger root, trim away any bad spots and juice the ginger using a ceramic grater (Rub the ginger over the sharp knobs until you get the desired amount of juice. Then strain the juice/pulp mixture through a fine metal strainer or cheesecloth)
TIP: I’ve heard of others using a garlic press, or of course a fruit & vegetable juicing machine as alternative methods to juice the ginger.
Discard the fibrous pulp, but keep the freshly squeezed ginger juice for your Ginger lime sparkler.
Juice your lime ( a handheld citrus squeezer/press, a citrus reamer, old fashioned table top juicer, or a fruit & vegetable juicing machine. More TIPS on getting the most juice from your citrus fruit here https://www.thespruceeats.com/easy-ways-to-squeeze-fresh-citrus-juice-759344)
Add your ginger juice, and citrus juice(s) to the bottom of a handsome drinking glass (10oz or more capacity) and stir in pure stevia powder or 1-4 drops of pure liquid stevia.
Slowly add the chilled sparkling water and garnish with a slice of lime (or citrus fruit of your choosing). Add a few small ice cubes if desired (filtered water)
Enjoy!
Note: If you are concerned about potential health effects of drinking carbonated water daily (the carbon dioxide that makes the bubbles is linked to bloating, dental issues, and mineral depletion), simply make the recipe with still water. It’s ‘still’ delicious 😉 !
