Treatment for mold illness

Treatments for mold illness are plentiful when searching online; as someone who experienced the myriad of symptoms and variety of treatments- I can undoubtedly say some work and some are a waste of time and money.  Many treatments only scratch the surface and reduce symptoms for a limited amount of time. Personally, I would never bother with antibiotic treatment again- simply ineffective for me. There are several medical doctors and health professionals that take the time to deep dive into healing the whole body, not just relieving the bothersome symptoms. Beware of medical professionals eager to ‘treat’ your symptoms as opposed to treatment for mold illness.

For example, early in my testing, the digestive issues I experienced seemed so unusual that my primary care physician suggested a visit with a gastroenterologist. During the office visit, the doctor listened to my laundry list of symptoms, said he ‘probably won’t find anything’, asked if I had insurance, and  cheerfully offered to have the girl at the front desk schedule me for a full endoscopy & colonoscopy next week for about $6000. Though it would be helpful to have a full picture of my digestive system, my health insurance (like many others) would not cover the full cost of the procedure and the out of pocket would still be in the thousands for me. Considering the doctor felt compelled to tell me he ‘probably wouldn’t find anything’ – I chose to continue my search for treatment elsewhere. It is often the case- not always- that when you visit a doctor you will  receive a prescription that might ease your symptoms. If you visit a surgeon, you may be scheduled for a potentially helpful procedure. A chiropractor might xray and manipulate your spine over the course of a few weeks or months. A naturopath may generate a list of herbal supplements and suggest therapeutic massage.

And all of these methods may provide some relief- and if the budget allows, a multifaceted approach to health is ideal. For me – I really wanted to heal the root cause of whatever ailed me, and I wanted it to work quickly, effectively, and not drain my finances.

The unfortunate answer for those new to mold illness/CIRS/ biotoxin illness  – at this time, the ‘quick, effective, inexpensive’ fix  does not exist. Take caution not succumb to the siren song of any one claiming they have such a solution as you are likely to waste precious time. The road to recovery DOES exist, though it will require diligence on your part.

Though Dr. Shoemaker and those who implement the Shoemaker Protocol lead the CIRS, MARCoNS, and Mold Illness research, there are several others that contribute and treat the conditions in a similar fashion. The Shoemaker Protocol is one of the more thorough and effective treatment options for mold illness. After reading The First steps post, you may find the links below to be helpful understanding more about treatment options for the condition.
